Philips is one of the brands that is committed to the use of OLED panels in their televisions. Accompanying the models based on LED LCD we find an OLED range to which are now added two new models, the Philips OLED804 and the Philips OLED854, the first Philips OLED TVs that will be compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR10 + and Dolby Atmos.
These are the first models of the manufacturer in which the most cutting-edge systems are combined as far as HDR is concerned. We are talking about HDR10 + and Dolby Vision. Two models that are the spearhead for the new range of televisions that TP Vision, with the help of Philips, will bring to the market in 2019.
Both models have a series of common characteristics and so, both the Philips OLED804 and the Philips OLED854 offer Android TV as an operating system in the Android version of the Pie or Android 9. They have the Ambilight 3-sided sound system with support for Dolby audio Atmos.
Available in diagonals of 55 and 65 inches, both panels offer a UHD resolution and a maximum brightness of 1000 Nits. Inside they mount the new P5 processor of third generation more powerful and the already mentioned system Ambilight of 3 faces.
The new P5 processor they have implemented offers improved performance over the original P5, thus achieving up to 20% more powerful and allowing the use of image sources with HDR10 + and Dolby Vision in 4K resolutions.
The improvement of image is represented by the support to all the HDR systems that today move in the market. We talk about Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10 + and HLG, so it represents one of the most complete alternatives on the market. Also do not neglect the sound, they offer a 2.1 speaker system compatible with Dolby Atmos.
The main difference between the two is mainly due to design reasons. So while the Philips OLED804 has a chrome frame around the screen and the stand, it is also finished in metal with stylized legs, in the case of Philips OLED854 this adds a dark chrome swivel support in the form of “T” that facilitates its vision from different angles.
Price and availability
The Philips OLED804 and the Philips OLED854 will be available in 55 and 65 inch sizes throughout the spring of 2019 and we are waiting to know the prices with which they will reach the market.
