LG is the undisputed king of the OLED technology. This is basically because it is the only manufacturer that has invested and insisted on this technology for years.
In a few months, we will begin to see OLED models from other major manufacturers, yet all of them in a high-premium range. To counteract this effect this 2016 LG has introduced the E6 range of OLED models at the highest level, both in design and performance. We have tested the LG 65-inch E6. Is the OLED 4K panel and HDR the perfect combination to enjoy home theater?
LG E6, technical features
The new range of TVs LG OLED of this 2016 is crowned by the G6 Signature range and several steps below, B6 and C6. But the most interesting is the new OLED E6 , without exclusivity Signature model includes all technologies that really matter to enjoy a TV we paid a lot of money.

The LG OLED E6 is a certified as Ultra Premium model, with a panel of new generation (10-bit), native 120 Hz refresh and resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, and with support for HDR 10 and Dolby Vision. At color level it has 90% of the color space DCI-P3.
With this data sheet, it is clear that we have not tested an input OLED TV model. The price of almost 4500 dollars for the version of 55 – inch E6 leaves no doubt.
The LG E6 adds a premium design where sound is important, with the best you can put together on a TV: OLED, UHD panel and HDR. But look at the price
The LG E6 is also a 3D TV. It uses passive technology, including two very comfortable glasses and with which we can for example resort to the game in full screen but with two images (one for each player) at the same time.
An OLED panel virtually in the air
The LG E6 does not look like affordable TV. It perfectly conveys the idea of high-end television, carefully designed in every detail. That extra that needs a model for which we paid a good amount of money.
It has a frameless design named Picture On Glass and wherein the thickness of the TV is almost the panel: 6 mm.
LG places the OLED panel on a glass structure that makes it stand and is the only thing along with a minimum edge protruding a few mm from the panel, hence the Picture On Glass. The result is that the usual distance of visiting, it seems that the TV does not really have frames.
With this thickness, the issue of connections is critical. The solution that LG has found for all electronics and connections has not been removed to an external module, as some brands do when you want to offer a panel of the smallest thickness, but has placed it in the lower area of more classic thickness but still So greatly reduced.
That area serves as the base of the computer and sound system. The set is stable but not so much as in a TV model where there is so much difference in weight and thickness between zones. So beware of moving it too much.
Full-level connections
In the lower area accumulate all connections of the equipment. And they are not few. The main ones are 4 HDMI 2.0a ports, all prepared to receive content with HDR and UHD resolution (HDCP 2.2), and three USB ports, one of which is USB 3.0.
All of these ports are located on the side of the bottom area, fairly close to the edge, which can cause something depending on which cables you have connected.
If we go to the rear we find the remaining ports, with an Ethernet, analog video inputs, RS-232, CI, the classic inputs for antenna as well as headphone and optical audio output. The status of connections, mainly on the side makes it easier, if we want, we can put the TV on the wall.
Logically, at this level, it goes without saying that this model has full wireless connectivity: WiFi, WiDi, DLNA and Bluetooth.
Integrated sound system
Quite rightly, LG has used that somehow had to add thickness in the lower third of your model to integrate OLED there the sound. It does it with a kind of bar of very good design and with the technology signature of Harman / Kardon.
The system is fantastically integrated into the TV set and offers 40 W power through a system 4.2. With support for Dolby and DTS sound. And a 20W woofer.
There is a higher model of this range that raises the level of this soundbar coupled with total power of 65 W.
The result is quite satisfactory, especially when the thickness of the equipment could not give much margin to this aspect of the television.
With this LG E6 we can choose a very high level without allowing it to distort at any time, and both voice and bass are more than correct, without actually deliver sound that matches that of a separate external bar.
A good idea is to calibrate the system with an automatic function that put up and configure the depending on our living room system.
Two remote controls for you to choose

HDR and 4K in all its splendor
Once you decide the technology you want for your TV, the difference marks the quality of the panel and associated technologies.
This LG OLED sum UHD content playback and HDR, I being certified as Ultra Premium. That guarantees us to be before an outstanding panel in all aspects. It is also a model HDR 10 and Dolby Vision. It is the best TV in the market for picture quality, but surely it will not make such a big difference with high-end LEDs if you look at the price tag.
If you accept its price, the LG E6 OLED is the television with the best overall picture quality of the market
A very pleasant news about the behavior of this LG OLED E6 is that we should not worry about the type of content. The TV itself detects the source and if it is HDR or UHD, it indicates it with a popup window, adjusting from that moment the parameters set by default.
In case we want some of these parameters are controllable, and we can decide between viewing modes for HDR, both 10 and Dolby Vision.
With UHD content, the detail and sharpness of elements it costs to differentiate in FullHD is astounding. One thing we do not recommend doing is forcing the HDR effect if the source is not ready for it. There is an option to do this in this LG OLED, but the result is worse than the one we got with that particular mode off.
Good work with content that is not UHD
With UHD content and even FullHD it is quite simple to triumph for a high-end TV. The problem comes when you have to push and work with fairly low native quality content.
With more than logical differences, the LG E6 also does an excellent job in this regard, highlighting the video processing lower – quality sources.
Both television broadcasts of dubious technical base and DVDs, the image quality may not improve but at least it leaves us feeling of suffering on display yes happens in other TV models.
Web OS 3.0 to the controls of the television
If it were not for the proprietary technology of OLED panel, a good selling point of this LG Smart TV would use the new webOS 3.0. It is attractive, functional and advanced.
